J Fusion Dance first opened its (virtual) doors in June 2020, launching online classes during a time of great uncertainty. Although our journey began online, our vision was always much bigger—to create a welcoming, inspiring dance studio where every child could feel supported, challenged and encouraged to reach their full potential.
When restrictions lifted and we were finally able to welcome dancers into the studio, that vision became a reality. Since then, J Fusion has continued to grow from strength to strength, leading to the opening of our beautiful Buckie studio in June 2022. Today, many of our dancers proudly call J Fusion their second home.
We are incredibly proud to have been recognised as the UK's Dance School of the Year 2026 and to be home to over 170 dancers, including multiple Scottish, European and World Champions. While we celebrate these achievements, our greatest success will always be watching every dancer grow in confidence, build lifelong friendships and develop a genuine love of dance.
Whether a dancer joins us for fun, fitness or competition, every child is valued, encouraged and supported throughout their own unique journey. Our aim is to provide an empowering, inclusive and high-quality dance experience that helps every student thrive—not only as dancers, but as confident, resilient young people.
At J Fusion, we believe dance has the power to change lives. We're more than just a dance school—we're a welcoming community where children can grow in confidence, develop new skills and create memories that last a lifetime.
We offer a wide range of classes for children from 16 months through to young adults, with both recreational and competitive pathways available. Whether your child is taking their very first dance steps or dreaming of becoming a champion, our experienced teaching team is here to support and inspire them every step of the way.
Every class is built around our core values of kindness, respect, teamwork and encouragement, creating a positive environment where every dancer feels they belong. Our goal is simple—to help every child leave the studio smiling, feeling proud of themselves and excited to return each week.
At J Fusion Dance Studio, we offer a wide range of classes designed to inspire dancers of all ages and abilities. From a child's very first dance class to advanced competitive training, our programmes provide a fun, supportive and progressive environment where every dancer can develop confidence, technique and a lifelong love of dance.
Our children's dance classes expose dancers to a variety of styles, helping them become versatile, expressive and well-rounded performers. Throughout the year, dancers have the opportunity to learn and develop in:
We also proudly offer AcroDance, a unique programme that combines the artistry of dance with the athleticism of acrobatics. Our AcroDance classes focus on developing strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and safe technique through progressive training and injury prevention principles.
As a certified Acrobatic Arts and Ready Set Acro studio, our dancers follow internationally recognised syllabuses designed to develop skills safely and effectively at every stage. Students have the opportunity to work through the Acrobatic Arts syllabus and take examinations as they progress, celebrating their achievements and building confidence along the way.
Whether a dancer attends one class each week for fun or trains across multiple disciplines, our aim is to provide high-quality teaching in an environment where every child feels encouraged, challenged and proud of their progress.
At J Fusion Dance Studio, we believe every dancer's journey is unique. That's why we offer both recreational and competitive pathways, allowing every child to progress in a way that suits their goals, interests and ambitions.
Our recreational classes are perfect for dancers who simply love to dance, make friends and have fun while learning new skills. Dancers will explore a variety of styles, develop technique, build confidence and enjoy regular performance opportunities, including our annual stage productions and local community events.
One of the highlights of the J Fusion calendar is our annual Christmas production, where every dancer has the opportunity to perform in a professionally produced show. From our youngest performers taking their first steps on stage to our experienced competition dancers, it's a magical celebration of everything our dancers have achieved throughout the year and a memory they'll treasure for years to come.
Our award-winning Competition Team is available by enquiry and is designed for dancers who wish to take their training to the next level.
Typically, dancers join our Competition Team after spending at least one year in our recreational programme, allowing them time to build strong foundations and become part of the J Fusion family before progressing into competitive dance.
Competition Team members receive specialist training in a range of line dance styles, including Cha Cha, Waltz, Nightclub, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing and Polka. Throughout the season, dancers compete at Scottish qualifying events with the opportunity to progress to the European and World Championships through the prestigious World Dance Masters federation.
We are incredibly proud to be home to multiple Scottish, European and World Champions, but our focus has always been on supporting every dancer to achieve their own personal best, whatever that looks like for them.
If you're interested in learning more about our Competition Team, we'd love to hear from you.
Providing a safe, welcoming and supportive environment is at the heart of everything we do.
All classes are taught by our qualified and experienced teaching team, led by Studio Owner Joy Robertson. J Fusion Dance Studio is fully insured, and our staff hold PVG membership, First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications, with Lucie proudly serving as our dedicated Studio Safeguarding Officer.
We are committed to creating a positive environment where every child feels safe, respected, encouraged and supported to grow in confidence both inside and outside the studio.
Dance Teacher | Studio Owner | WDM Judge
Joy's dance journey began at just three years old with Highland Dancing before discovering Line Dance at the age of five. Following in her mum's footsteps, she quickly fell in love with the sport and has never looked back.
With 29 years of dance experience and over 10 years of teaching experience, Joy has built an exceptional career as both a performer and coach. She is a 9-time World Champion and 7-time European Champion, alongside multiple Scottish and British Championship titles. She is also one of the few dancers worldwide to have achieved the prestigious Allstars World Champion titles in both Solo and Pro-Am divisions.
Today, Joy is proud to be the Studio Owner of J Fusion Dance Studio, recognised as the UK's Dance School of the Year 2026 and home to multiple Scottish, European and World Champions.
Alongside running the studio, Joy is an International World Dance Masters Judge and is regularly invited to judge championships across the UK and internationally, including Australia, South Korea, Ireland and the Netherlands. In addition to judging, she is honoured to teach lessons and deliver workshops at these events, sharing her knowledge and passion with dancers from around the world.
Joy also continues to perform as a member of CountryVive, the professional World Dance Masters Show Team, and believes that great teachers should always continue learning, performing and developing alongside their dancers.
Her passion for teaching began over a decade ago when she started assisting her own teacher, Nicola Lafferty. That passion continued to grow and, when the opportunity arose to open her own dance studio in 2020, she embraced the chance to create something truly special—a welcoming community where every dancer feels supported, inspired and encouraged to achieve their own personal best.
Committed to delivering the highest standard of teaching, Joy continually develops her knowledge through professional training and education.
While Joy is incredibly proud of her own achievements, her greatest reward is watching her dancers grow in confidence, develop a lifelong love of dance and achieve things they never thought possible. Whether a child is taking their very first class or representing Scotland on the world stage, Joy is passionate about helping every dancer reach their full potential while enjoying every step of the journey.

I love Jfusion because its my favourite place to go. My dance teacher Joy is the best teacher I could ask for, she pushes me to the best I can be. The things I’ve loved so far are learning the different styles of dances, competitions and dresses and meeting new friends from other dance schools.

Our Isla started dancing with jfusion in early 2024. She loves dancing. She's always dancing whether it be in class at home, in the playground or in the shops. She is our superstar, having suffered lack of oxygen at birth she has challenges with mobility, balance & co-ordination. Isla has exceeded all expectations as it was thought she may not walk. Jfusion has helped Isla in so many ways. Her balance and co-ordination have improved so much whilst having lots of fun, increasing her confidence and making friends. We are forever grateful to the jfusion team for supporting Isla and giving her the opportunity to realise anyone can dance when they work hard, have determination and follow your dreams.

Lachlan is LOVING his time at JFusion. Lachlan waited patiently in the wings watching his big brother dance until he was old enough to attend himself. He has grown heaps in his dancing since he started classes in January. He loves spending time with friends, and he loves the different dances and music. All the ladies at JFusion are so good with all the kiddos and have welcomed Lachlan so warmly. He’s just done his first show and he is hooked. Thanks to you for all you do, Joy, Anne, Lucie and ALL the big girl helpers. My boys love it at JFusion!
